    Wagon Trail Campground

    09/09/2018
    Season 0 – Before Full-time

We were looking for a campground in Door County that was close to the places we wanted to go, and didn’t feel crowded, and Wagon Trail Campground definitely fit the bill.

Sitting area in front of the Wagon Trail Campground

We opted for a premium campsite which were a little larger than others, but most all campsites were large and well groomed.  This area has a TON of trees in between sites as well to help with noise – both sound and light.

Enough forest for a Yeti to hide

Wagon Trail campground has a few different amenities you don’t normally see at campsites, which really made it a better experience –

    • 7mph driving limit was strictly enforced (yay!)
    • Noise and light pollution were key conversation topics, and this really enhanced the evening fires and star gazing
    • They had a pump out service!  This was great since we stayed for 7 nights and this saved us a load and unload cycle for our truck camper
    • This is one of the few campgrounds we’ve been to that promote recycling, which was fantastic!
    • There was a large playground and open grass area for playing outdoor games, which were provided by the campground
    • This campground is large and windy, so it made for a nice evening walk or stroll on your bike.
    • The campground personnel were very helpful and recommended several local places to visit.  Since we didn’t have a specific agenda planned, this helped kick start our ideas of what to do.

For those without an RV, you can rent RVs on-site (no towing needed!) or stay in one of the yurts or cabins, which all looked quite nice.  I’d recommend to look at their website to understand the amenities so you choose what works best for you.  There are also some amazing tent sites that feel like you’re truly away from it all.

    Happy Camping!
