    Sturgeon Bay & Walmart Run?!

    09/08/2018
    Season 0 – Before Full-time

Is it just us, or does every trip seem to start out at Walmart?

We just got to our campsite at Wagon Trail Campground on the northern portion of Door County, Wisconsin.  It’s a beautiful campground where the owner’s pride is seen everywhere – from the raked sites, amazingly clean restroom facilities, the rec area both inside and out.  A bonus for us was the ability to walk to Rowley’s Bay Resort where we could grab a beverage while enjoying the bay view.

After taking the camper off and setting up our site, we end up having to drive back down to Sturgeon Bay – the nearest location with a Walmart, Target, etc.  It was a bummer, since its an hour trip (one-way) from where we were staying.  On the plus side, it gives us a little time to explore!

By the time we made it into Sturgeon Bay, we were hungry and parched, so we chose to go grab a late lunch at Greystone Castle  a small pub fully decorated in a game/hunting motif.

We went in rather late for lunch (around 2pm) and it was still quite packed.   We ordered some appetizers (the cheese curds and the onion rings were awesome!) and split a meal (as usual).  We should have asked what was the restaurant special, since we missed out on their gigantic prime rib sandwiches!

After lunch, we strolled around by the Door County Maritime Museum.  We didn’t have enough time to go in, but did see the tug boats.

The day was very overcast and dreary, but that didn’t stop me from taking these mediocre pictures of the Sturgeon Bay Bridge and some of the boats at Stone Harbor!

    A little fun on a dreary day…
