In this episode, we slowly meander away from Death Valley and find some fanTASTIC free boondocking places on the way to explore and stay a night (or two). But California keeps on pushing it’s beauty on us… it’s working!

    Where We Stayedโ›บ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ๐Ÿ“Œ

    “Burro” Mine BLM

A neat stop not far from Panamint Springs. We got there mid-day and explored the “Burro” mine, which was actually named Wahoo mine.

They called it Burro Mine on iOverlander since the original poster was greeted by burros! Unfortunately, no burros for us. But, it was a quiet, restful stop along the way.

    Alabama Hills (Lone Pine, CA)

Even if you’re not camping, this is a beautiful place to drive – we came in on a very gloomy rainy day and what a mood!

We stayed here for several nights, doing some light hiking and simply relaxing. Oh, that and the wind was a bit strong so we didn’t want to leave. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Luckily for us, we don’t have a set timeline!

    Where we Explored๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘€

    Eastern Sierra Visitor Center

We didn’t realize there was a Visitor Center on the way, so why not stop? Great parking for RVs. We visited the center and walked around their outdoor walking trail that identified several desert plants. It also had some great information about this area, including a replica of the mountains in this area. My favorite part, though, was the huge windows at the end overlooking the mountain range – gorgeous!
