Are we PEEPERS now?! 👀👀Santee Reserve & Skidaway Island | Truck Camper Travels |E51

    01/23/2022
Georgia, Season 2 – “South”, South Carolina

    Jump to Places we Stayed

We’re continuing slowly southward and stay a few nights at both the Santee Coastal Reserve and Skidaway Island State park…

    Santee Coastal Reserve

We ran into this location off of Campendium and we’re so glad we tried it. As typical for these free sites, they’re a bit off the beaten path. This is a nice small campground, all dry camping and no facilities. Each site had a fire ring and a picnic table which was quite nice. There are beautiful trees in the area providing a lot of shade. Be aware that the shade also makes it a bit harder to use your solar panels. Do expect to hear generators running. During our time there, we saw several travel trailers, another truck camper, vans, and car camping. We were able to find a site where we could use some solar. The biggest draw here are the trails out to the river – so many opportunities to see wildlife out there! Be prepared with lots of bug spray, even in the winter.

    Skidaway Island State Park

Our next stop was at Skidaway Island State Park. Frankly, I don’t think we did this stay justice. You’re a hop, skip and a jump away from Savannah which really looked like an interesting city. With Gary feeling and looking rough from the horrible shingles virus, we chose not to go anywhere really in public. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed their trails but we’ll definitely have to go again to experience more of the city.
