These feelings bring back some of the early days before we took off on the road full-time – having to sell things you still want to keep. And I’m not sure if it makes it easier or harder that we’re in a GORGEOUS area for boating. Oh my!

    Where We Stayed⛺🗺️📌

Chain O’ Lakes Campground – Bellaire, MI Roadtrippers

We stayed at this campground for several weeks while we were trying to sell our boat. The campground is reasonably priced in comparison to others in the area. This is a quaint family-friendly campground that has a nice pool. We liked it since they had a separate place to keep our boat while camping. The owners are friendly and share a wealth of full-time RVing information, which we were excited to hear!

    Chain O’ Lakes Main Office

We stayed in the middle sections which are full-hookup but are a little tight. But each site is large enough to have your own picnic table and a firepit with chairs and such to enjoy the evenings. We still felt like we had our own personal space. The trees overhead kept the temps reasonable in the July/August weather. Water spigots are shared between multiple campsites and pedestals with your neighbor and didn’t seem to cause any issues. There are larger sites on the outside with more space and a concrete slab, but I believe those are more for seasonals.

They have laundry facilities on-site ($3 a load for wash/dry), which makes staying for longer than a week or so very easy. If you want to tent camp, that’s also available along with some really cute cabins (we only saw from the outside).

Cabins if tenting or RVing isn’t your thing

This campground is in a great location for everything. Bellaire is a fun town to get dinner and drinks – we rented some mountain bikes in town to try out Glacial Hills which was a BLAST! It’s also an easy drive to Traverse City for boating, cycling, fun dinner options, and more. We liked this location since we could easily get onto Lake Bellaire and Torch Lake with our boat.

    Boat parking area

In the evenings, they have a golf cart driving around the campground with wood you can purchase, and many times they also have an ice cream cart, such a fun addition! The campground itself has a relaxed vibe. We saw several family reunions which was a cool idea. The camp store is small but likely has what you need in a pinch. We ended up purchasing a tablecloth that had a cute sasquatch print. We plan to visit again when we are in the area.
