Maybe I was a little optimistic on our trip. 20+ miles miles after not biking for something like a year may have been a little overzealous. This was a perfect time to “go long”. And boy did we go long! Ok, not that long, but the trip was approximately 26 miles.
Washington Island is a beautiful place with a very small regular population of only 660! And with us going after the start of school, there was a smaller number of tourists as well. It felt like we had large areas just to ourselves, which was fabulous.
The ride was awesome, but a bit grueling after climbing the Mountain Park Lookout Tower. Luckily a beverage (or two) at Middle Bar II helped before heading back on the ferry.
