*SICK* and on the road 🤒…. Migrating down the North & South Carolina coast | E50

    01/16/2022
North Carolina, Season 2 – “South”

    Jump to Places we Stayed

Well, we had an *interesting* start to the year but still chugging along. Come with us to visit some of the places we stopped along the North Carolina and South Carolina coastal areas!

    Flanners Beach Campground

This was a great first stop for us, especially prior to some heavy rainstorms. All sites had electric and water which was quite convenient. The dump station worked without major issue. You’ll need to do a little leveling on the sites but nothing extravagant. While the park is small and the sites are somewhat close, they did a good job of keeping a lot of trees and bushes in between (at least at the sites near us). You need to text the camp host when arriving and confirm your site location.

    Oyster Point Campground

For $10/night, you can’t beat this campground. There were some sites that were very close to the water (ours was!) but do be prepared for dry camping – have adequate fresh water and gray/black tanks low or empty. There is not a location to get water or dump your tanks. This was a *perfect* place for bird watching, if you like to do that. So many different species all around, even in January. But do note that there are military bases nearby so you may be hearing some jets buzz around. This campground was certainly worth a day or two stop.

    Carolina Beach State Park

Next, we stayed at Carolina Beach state park. I enjoyed the shorter hiking trails and it was nice to be able to walk to the marina. In my opinion, though, it was a bit pricey considering you have only water on your site. We did use the showers here, which were pretty nice and had no issues with the dump station. Unfortunately, solar can only go so far when you have cloudy days and lots of trees. Don’t be surprised with generators running (we had to).
