My Dometic RV Refrigerator sucks – Part 1 | Host Cascade Truck Camper |E12

    Fixes & Maintenance

If you have an RV, you’ve likely had “challenges” with your refrigerator.

This is part 1 of trying to get our refrigerator to keep something cold using an inside refrigerator fan, reflectix and additional insulation…

So what did we try and how did it work?

    Refrigerator Fan

In the video we do show that we tried this fan from Amazon. While it did keep airflow in the refrigerator, the two D batteries just did not keep up. We did use rechargeable so we bought 4 D batteries and was changing them out every 12-24 hours. That amount of effort didn’t seem very sustainable. Nevertheless, we’ll keep it around and pull it out when it’s dreadfully hot outside to give the fridge a little more of a fighting chance

    Addition of Reflectix and Insulation

While I personally believe that adding the reflectix was beneficial, I wasn’t directly seeing the benefits with the temperature in the refrigerator. There is a bit of a reason (see part 2). So, if I had the option of deciding to do this or not, I honestly think I would still do it again. It wasn’t that awfully difficult and it did seem to help with directing the air flow better.
